On May 10th, 2018, the handover ceremony of the first supplies under China-Aid Cambodia Mobile Clinic Project (the Project) was held in Phnom Penh. The Project was undertaken by China Sinopharm International Corporation (Sinopharm International). Present at the ceremony were officials from Cambodia Ministry of Health, Mr. Xiong Bo, China’s Ambassador to Cambodia, Mr. Li An, Economic and Commercial Counselor to Cambodia, Ms. Shi Shengyi, Vice President of Sinopharm Group and Chairwoman of Sinopharm International, Mr. Fu Qiang, Principal Engineer of Sinopharm International and personages from other local sectors.
In his speech, Cambodian Minister of Health Mam Bunheng expressed his sincere and heartfelt thanks to China for the aid, saying that the mobile clinics would greatly contribute to improving the medical services in Cambodia and providing people from remote rural areas with the access to medical treatment.
Ambassador Xiong Bo said that the mobile clinics were the health express from Chinese people to Cambodian people, showing the China-Cambodia friendship and that China’s aid would go deep and benefit more people of the grass-root level.
Ms. Shi Shengyi introduced Sinopharm Group and the Project on the ceremony, and expressed sincere gratitude to trust and help by the two governments, hoping that these mobile clinics would provide medical services to people from remote rural areas and to further expand the collaboration with Cambodian Ministry of Health.
After the handover of the first batch of 20 mobile clinics, Sinopharm International will send experts for technical and medical training to facilitate the medical services.
The Project is of high importance to improving the medical condition across whole Cambodia especially the remote rural areas. It is also a brand new symbol of China-Cambodia friendship and the comprehensive strategic relation as well as an important outcome of Sinopharm Group’s implementing the Belt and Road Initiative.
