Recently, a patient from Qinghai died from using Shuanghuanglian Injection made by Heilongjiang Wusuli River Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. Jiamusi Branch, and the safety of traditional Chinese medicine injection aroused much concern among all sectors of the community again. Experts from Drug Evaluation Center of SFDA said to reporters that the clinical use of traditional Chinese medicine injections should follow seven basic principles.
These seven basic principles are:
Strictly identify the indications, rationally choose the route of administration. It is better to choose oral or intramuscular administration than intravenous administration. We should strengthen monitoring on intravenous injection or infusion.
Treat the disease based on categorical identification and use the drug in strict accordance with the indications or the functions marked on the instruction. It is forbidden to use drug beyond the prescribed scope.
Administer drugs in strict accordance with the doses, deployment requirements, delivery speed, course of treatment recommended on the instructions. For long-term use, there must be a certain interval between each course of treatment.
Mixed use with other drugs is strictly prohibited. If it is necessary to use with other drugs, some issues should be carefully considered such as the interval with the use of traditional Chinese medicine injection as well as drug interactions.
The history of allergy should be asked in detail before the use of drug.
The use of TCM injection for some special groups such as the elderly, children, patients with liver and kidney dysfunction and so on for the first time should be careful and be monitored intensively.
Strengthen ADR monitoring. During the medication process, should observe the ADR closely especially in the 30 minutes at the beginning. Once the ADR appear, stop the use of drug and take positive measures to treat the patients.
