Chinese HIV Vaccine in Trial II, None Of Adverse Reactions

CATV.NET Beijing Report on Jan,25th: According to the CRN news at 14:40, reporter learned from relevant department that, so far, the clinical trial in phase II of Chinese HIV vaccine has been going very smoothly, 30 volumteers which had the vaccination have shown no adverse reactions. For the details, let’s contact with CCTV reporter Liu Tiansi.
NJ: Firstly, could you give us an introduction about the location where Chinese HIV vaccines have been studied?
Reporter: The clinical Phase II study of Chinese HIV vaccine is conducted jointly by National Institute for the Control of Pharmaceutical and Biological Products (NICPBP), University of Jilin, Changchun BCHT Biotechnology Co., Ltd and Guangxi CDC. This project was initiated in March last year in Nanning of Guangxi Province. Before, Phase I study had shown good safety results already, Phase II study will further assess the safety and immunogenicity among the expanded healthy population, in order to provide further support to the clinical trials.
NJ: How did the efficacy of the vaccine be verified and how is the situation in recruiting volunteers for the trial?
Reporter: According to relevant person from health department of Guangxi Zhuangzu Autonomous Region, since the official initiation of Phase II trial study of Chinese HIV vaccines in March last year, the whole process would be in need of 200 volunteers approximately. Since then, Guangxi CDC had successfully recruited 30 people and started the vaccination. All these volunteers are in different occupations, including medical staff and security guard, etc. So far, the 30 volunteers which had been inoculated already have no adverse reaction shown. Therefore, the safety of the vaccine in Phase I clinical had been further verified. It’s been told that, during the Phase II clinical study of Chinese HIV vaccines, the recruited volunteers in both Phase I and Phase II are all from the high risk healthy population. For Phase III study, for the need of the research, there will be a part of the high risk population participating the process of the study.
