The reporter learned that the production line will first produce Enalapril Folic Acid Tablet, the first approved new chemical drug of class 1 since 2006 with independent intellectual property rights owned by Shenzhen Aosa. Wang Rong, Acting Mayor of Shenzhen, attended the ceremony for the completion of the construction. He expressed the hope that Shenzhen Aosa can develop more innovative drugs and lead the future of bio-pharmaceutical industry. According to the third survey of the cause of death in residents of China in 2008, stroke has become the first cause of death. About 200 million people suffer from stroke every year in China, about 150 million people die of stroke each year with 8.7% annual rate of rapid growth, while, 75% of more than 200 million hypertensive patients in China are associated H-hypertension with High-Hyperhomocysteinemia, and their risk of stroke increased by over 12 times. In early 2008, Enalapril Folic Acid Tablet, a chemical drug of class 1 with independent intellectual property rights developed by the research team in Shenzhen Aosa, which has significant efficacy of lowering high blood pressure and high hyperhomocysteinemia's obtained the approval of production issued by SFDA. Doc. Xu Xiping the chief scientist of Shenzhen Aosa, said that hypertension, and high-Hyperhomocysteinemia are the main factors inducing stroke, while folic acid can significantly reduce homocysteine (HCY), and play the role of prevention of stroke . Doc. Liu Lisheng, chairman of International Hypertension Union and professor of Beijing Fuwai Hospital said that it is a milestone achievement for the independent innovation of new drug in China as 97.4% of drugs in the market are generic drugs.
